Pennsylvania's Southwest Emergency Response Group - Region 13 Selects the 'Knowledge Center®' from SSI Services for Incident and Event Management

"PITTSBURGH, Jan. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Pennsylvania's southwest emergency response group - Region 13 selects the Knowledge Center(R) for incident and event management. The Knowledge Center(R) will provide emergency managers with tools for decision support, information management, analysis, and communications - integrating resources at the local, county, state, and federal levels through a 'virtual collaborative environment'.

Region 13 - a regional anti-terrorism consortium that includes 13 counties in western Pennsylvania covering 9,550 square miles, a population of 3.1 million people, and 706 local municipalities - chose SSI Services after an exhaustive national search. Paul Beatty, Chair, Region 13 Communications Committee: "Our committee investigated all the major solutions and found that the Knowledge Center(R) was clearly the superior product. When comparing our critical discriminators such as configuration flexibility, ease of use, ease of training, and ease of future integration, the Knowledge Center(R) was the unanimous choice."

Chief Robert Full, Chair, Region 13: "Because of the large size of our region and the complexity of our emergency services community, we need to continue to be on the forefront in emergency management tools and services. We need systems that are scalable, that can grow as our public safety responsibility grows. We also need systems that are flexible, that can handle today's threats, as well as tomorrow's uncertainties. The Knowledge Center(R) is precisely this type of solution."

SSI Services anticipates deploying the Knowledge Center(R) for use throughout southwestern Pennsylvania during the first half of this year. Two major planned uses for the system are already scheduled for 2006, including the Major League Baseball All-Star Game at PNC Park on July 11th. John Degory, Director of the Knowledge Center Business Unit, SSI Services: "As a company with a rich history of asset management services and emergency preparedness planning, we are uniquely qualified to help the emergency management community ensure the safety and security for these types of incidents and events. Having built the Knowledge Center(R) from the ground up, based on use at our own managed facilities worldwide, we are confident that the system will immediately help our first responders manage events and respond to emergencies more effectively and efficiently."
